St Hywyn's Church, Aberdaron

Welcome to Visitors - Croeso i Ymwelwyr

Visitors of every kind are welcome, including those with four paws rather than two.
Whether you arrive on your own, as a pair, as a family, as a group of friends, or as a coach party, you will be welcome.

The larger the group, the more we appreciate knowing in advance the day and approximate time of your arrival. Please contact the secretary.
Those of us who live here are privileged to protect and make available to visitors some wonderful breathing spaces: the church itself, the beach and the coast, the hills and the paths.

It is a place for ‘slowly’, ‘softly’, ‘silently’. Groups are welcome for a few hours of silence and prayer, conversation and pondering, and gentle sauntering.
Whether you come for a relaxing day out or on a serious pilgrimage, you will be welcome.

Mae croeso i ymwelwyr o bob math, yn cynnwys y rhai sydd â phedair coes yn hytrach na dwy. Pa un ai cyrraedd ar ben eich hun wnewch chi, mewn pâr, fel teulu, fel grŵp o ffrindiau, neu fel criw ar fws, fe gewch chi groeso mawr.

Po fwyaf y grŵp, y mwyaf y byddwn ni’n gwerthfawrogi cael gwybod ymlaen llaw ar ba ddiwrnod y byddwch chi’n dod, a’r amser y byddwch chi’n debyg o gyrraedd.
Mae’r rhai ohonom sy’n byw yma yn freintiedig ein bod ni’n cael gwarchod a darparu i bobl ‘le i enaid gael llonydd’: yr eglwys ei hunan, y traeth a’r arfordir, y bryniau a’r llwybrau.

Mae’n lle i 'arafu', 'tawelu', a ‘myfyrio’. Mae croeso i grwpiau ddod yma am ychydig oriau o dawelwch a gweddïo, sgwrsio a myfyrio, a meddwl yn dawel. Pa un ai dod yma am ddiwrnod o ymlacio a wnewch chi, neu ar bererindod ddifrifol, fe fydd yma groeso mawr i chi.

"In cities that
have outgrown their promise
people are becoming pilgrims
again, if not to this place,
then to the recreation of it
in their own spirits"

INVITATION TO ST. HYWYN'S CHURCH, ABERDARON
TO HEAR THE POEMS OF R.S. THOMAS

We are presenting "Pilgrimage through the poetry of RS Thomas” – “Stations to the untenanted Cross” a 1 hour pilgrim way and poetry meditation, presenting a collection of R.S. Thomas' poems "Etched by Silence" compiled and published by Jim Cotter the retired Vicar of St Hywyn's, Aberdaron.

This collection has been compiled specifically for the modern day pilgrim. Selected for their accessibility and connection with the church, Ynys Enlli and seascape of Aberdaron.

Participants will be guided around the church, stopping at each of the 8 "Stations" to listen to 1 or 2 poems being read, followed by silent reflection before moving on to the next "Station". At the end there will be time for refreshments and conversation and an opportunity to buy a copy of the book or DVD of Jim Cotter reading the poems.

We envisage the group to be a maximum of 15 people. The date and time, to be arranged according to your group's preference. Either on a Sunday afternoon or an evening during the week.

If you would like more details or to arrange a pilgrimage, then please contact me on susanafogarty@gmail.com

GWAHODDIAD EGLWYS HYWYN SANT, ABERDARON
GWRANDO AR GERDDI RS THOMAS

Byddwn yn cyflwyno “Stations to the untenanted Cross”, profiad un awr o bererindod a myfyrdod yn Eglwys Hywyn Sant yn gwrando ar gerddi R S Thomas, "Etched by Silence". Detholwyd a chyhoeddwyd y cerddi gan Y Parch Jim Cotter, ficer Aberdaron, [wedi ymddeol].

Dewiswyd y cerddi yn arbennig am eu hygyrchedd a'u cysylltiadau a Eglwys Hywyn Sant, Ynys Enlli a morluniau Aberdaron.

Bydd y rhai sy'n cymryd rhan yn cael eu tywys o gwmpas yr eglwys ac yn aros wrth bob un o'r wyth 'gorsaf' yn eu tro tra'n gwrando ar un neu ddwy gerdd yn cael eu darllen. Ceir sgwrs a lluniaeth ar y diwedd a chyfle i brynu copi o'r llyfr a DVD Jim Cotter.

Tybiwn y bydd tua pymtheg mewn grwp. Gellir trefnu amser a dyddiad yn ol eich dewis, un a'i ar y Sul neu yn ystod yr wythnos.
